When I was at this physician's group practice (Urology Centers of Alabama in Birmingham) he came in to see me following one of my 'treatments' for Peyronie's Disease that was caused by surgery in another town. I showed him a prescription drug I was taking and asked about it in relation to what I might be prescribed at his facility. I was told to STOP taking it immediately, which I did. I experieced major drug withdrawal problems for the next two days. When I contacted my general practice physician's office, where the drug had been prescribed, I was told you could NEVER stop taking it cold--(verified by my pharmacy)...Why this urologist didn't know that,I don't have a clue. He was a nice guy and had a pleasing personality but following his directions sure did cause me a scare and two terrible days. When next at his group practice for a procedure-- I had a urology question that the treating nurse felt a physician should answer after a brief exam. She stated she would 'Get Dr. Pitman' and I refused. After my one and only previous encounter with him, I did not have confidence in his professional judgement so another urologist (there are 15 of them there) was summoned. I understand that Dr. Pitman has now retired.  |
