I was originally referred to Dr. Ricci for abnormal uterine bleeding. Like most doctors, she is busy, but she was nonetheless pleasant and easy to work with. Hormonal fluctuations had rendered me extremely sensitive, and when something she told me upset me, she immediately recognized that I needed time, compassion, and extra attention, and that is precisely what she gave me. Because I had found her both knowledgeable and compassionate, I chose her as my ObGyn for both of my pregnancies. My birth plan included the use of hypnosis and a doula to assist me in labor and delivery, and Dr. Ricci was very cooperative and supportive of my decisions. The births were vaginal deliveries and were entirely natural childbirths. She has always seemed to have a good understanding that, while she is the medical professional, I am the expert on my own body. Dr. Ricci never attempted to undermine my choices, and was happy to provide me with complete and detailed information. Some people have mentioned that there can be long waits at her office, and this is true. I want to point out that I believe this is because Dr. Ricci makes a real effort to deliver the babies of her patients. She doesn't leave her patients to a stranger just because the time of delivery is inconvenient. For my first child, she kept her own child with the babysitter so that she could help me deliver. For my second, she was at the hospital bright and early to assist me. Waiting in her office is inconvenient, but it is worth it to me to have the doctor who delivers be the same one who has seen me through the pregnancy and who has read and discussed with me the birth plan. I am done having babies, and will enter menopause in a few years. I intend to continue using Dr. Ricci, and I feel very pleased to have found an ObGyn who has taken the time to get to know me and whom I can trust. I recommend her.
