I have very poor vision and have spent a good portion of my life in the offices of optometrists and opthamologists. This practice was by far the most intimidating and least clean, professional, and reassuring place I have ever visited. While the eye exam I was given seemed fine, the office staff is not at all professional. A number of things about the way the practice is set up were unprofessional and off-putting as well. For example, the exam room is a tiny back room. The restroom (where I had to go to wash my hands to put in new contact lenses) is also the storage room, and looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the practice opened 10 years ago. The 'office phone' is just a cordless phone and there is no answering machine/voice mail system. I was not given a glaucoma test, and I was not told why. Which means I now need to find another eye doctor and have a completely brand new exam, since I need to get this test done annually. The optician easily found a great pair of frames for me, but refused to help me work out the costs with my insurance discounts to figure out if it was cheaper to use the insurance to pay for the glasses or the contact lenses. He didn't explain what type of glasses/lenses I am getting, and he didn't go through the cost of each of those with me. He did say he gave me a 'discount' on the glasses but who knows since the prices were never seen or given. I don't think the price I paid for the glasses was unfair, but I was supposed to receive a call last Friday telling me they were in. It is now the following Thursday and I have not received a call. If I am unsatisfied with the result I doubt I will be offered the opportunity for a refund (yes, I had to pay for the glasses when I ordered them). The more I think about it, the more I should have taken my contact lens and eyeglass prescriptions (what I desperately needed and the reason I went here in the first place) and walked out at the end of my appointment. I should have ordered my contact lenses online and bought glasses through Costco. Lesson learned. I don't think the optometrist is a poor care provider, I just think he has no interest in maintaining a professional environment, which is very off-putting to a patient like me. Once I get my glasses and contact lenses, I will not be going back to this location. If you must visit this location (I was forced here by necessity, I do not have a car and it is in close proximity to my office), get the exam, take your prescription, and buy your glasses and contact lenses elsewhere. |
