2011

I had my bunion and bunionette surgery in April of 2011. I was extremely happy with Dr Basile’s bedside manner and never found him to be arrogant, only informative and comforting.

I would say the first week is the worst.
Take the meds, have help at home, elevate and ice, ice, ice!!   I found that frozen corn worked better than anything I tried :)

After that week, you might still need some assistance but you should be able to get yourself a drink and a snack and bring it back to bed for yourself…
I did find it hard carrying things back to bed using crutches.  I ended up hanging a small canvas bag around my neck with my water and snacks – my doggie bag!!  It was quite comical!
After that the only other downfalls were the uncomfortable, itchy, compression sock – I hated that thing but wore it, and the swelling.. it was hard trying to find a shoe to wear.
I ended up buying some under armor slide in sandals that had a velcro closure.  I couldn’t wear regular flip flips because the straps rubbed on the incisions.

I did everything he said, to the T, and couldn’t be happier with my results!

I was a little frightened when my 1st foot was unwrapped and I saw the bruising and swelling but it went away almost to the day that he said it would....

I had my right foot done first, as it was much worse than the left.
Dr Basile said; once your right  foot is fixed, you will start to notice your left one is hurting too - you won’t have the distraction of the right foot pain - he was right and I did notice it!

I was so pleased with him and my recovery that I elected to have my other foot done in October of 2011, only a few months later.
I even wore heals within 5 months!
I am 2 weeks out from 2nd surgery and walking around without crutches. I am wearing my ortho shoe but hope to be in a regular sneaker next week.

I have recommended Dr Basile to any and all that have told me about their feet ailments....

2003 I had a severe bunion on my right foot operated on by Dr. Basile in  2002.  Short term I was back in my athletic shoes and walking normally just over 2 weeks after the operation. LONG TERM I could not be happier with the results of Dr. Basile's work. for It is now 2010 and I have been absolutely repercussion-free from this operation.  I have full use of my foot, with only a tiny visible scar, bearly noticable .  I made an excellent choice in Dr. Basile.  I was back to see him recently for a small unreIated matter, and seeing him again reminded me of how highly I regard his skills.  I more than highly recommend Dr. Philip Basile!

Thanks to the Doctor my happy feet are off to hike in the back canyons of Utah again this summer,  as they have done every year since my bunion operation.

Not given I am a patient of Dr. Basile. I have full faith and confidence in his being my physician. I am in my mid sixties; my life has been active . About a year ago, I noticed pain in my right toe area. I take a 4E; naively, I thought my foot was getting wider. After getting an appointment, Dr. Basile told me that I had a large bunion on the big toe area, and a smaller bunion ( bunionette ) on the other side. Surgery would be required to alleviate the ongoing pain. He cautioned me that my bunions were large, and that recovery could be lengthy. I had surgery approximately six months ago, and the recovery was lengthy and painful, During my post-op visits with Dr. Basile, he was honest and compassionate about my longer than expected recovery and encouraged me to be patient .My days of working out again and bicycling were near. He was correct. I am almost totally healed from my bunionectomy. Unfortunately I contracted other foot problems almost simultaneously that required me to seek medical treatment. Again Dr. Basile treated me in a systematic and careful manner. After X-rays and an MRI, I am again on the road to a full, active life. Dr. Basile' straightforward and professional adeptness make going to "see the Doctor" a less anxious undertaking. He has been "top notch" with me.

2008 I have have had surgery on both my bunions by Dr. Philip Basile, exactly 2 months apart and I can not be more pleased.  My first surgery was August 2008 and the second October 2008.  My first foot has healed and I elected to do the other and happy to say I am on my way to healing as my foot is now in a shoe. I can honestly say I did not experience any significant pain and did not have the need to take the prescribed pain medication.  I can not be more pleased with the outcome and have recommended numerous people to schedule an appointment with Dr. Basile.

2008 I went to Dr. Basile after I had-mistakenly-went to an orthopedic surgeon to fix my bunion. My original 'repair' with the orthopod was a joke! My bunion looked 10 times worse than it had prior to surgery. I was out of work for 6 weeks, non weight-bearing and an additional 4 weeks of light duty! Not only was I not happy with the cosmetics post-op, but the pain never went away. I, myself, am in the medical field and am on my feet all day. You can imagine how frustrated and disappointed I was with these results. To add fuel to the fire, the orthopod said I was, 'being too picky and that I just wanted pretty feet.' Well, after ten weeks away from my job, I would hope it would at least look presentable. I was even embarrassed to say I had surgery! Fortunately, I had an encounter with one of Dr. Basile's patients four years later. She had  a bunionectomy by him and her foot was beautiful and pain-free! She suggested I go and just see what he had to say. While being professional, you could tell he was shocked by the results of my bunionectomy. He promised he could fix me. Although skeptical because of my previous outcome, he made me feel comfortable and hopeful. He was right...he fixed me. My foot looks and feels amazing! In fact, he did the re-do in Feb, it is now Oct and I am one week p-op from my bunionectomy on my other foot. Again, another terrific job by Dr. Basile. Moral of the story:don't order lasagna in a Chinese food restaurant. In other words, if you need foot surgery, go to a foot doctor-a good one. That's what they do. I learned my lesson!

1996-2006 I have been a regular patient of Dr. Philip Basile for ten years. I have had serious medical conditions with my feet that have required several major surgical interventions.  Dr. Basile has always been  more than patient,  considerate and kind to me.  His expertise in his field is the best one could ever wish for, as is his bedside manner. He always takes time to listen to my problems and has NEVER made me feel rushed, or that I am wasting his time when I have an appointment. He always goes out of his way to explain procedures to me in great detail, and takes the time to answer all my questions to my satisfaction, and in a manner that I fully understand.  He is also extremely gentle when performing what can be painful procedures.  Other members of my family  (one is in the medical profession) have also been treated by Dr. Basile, and they feel the same way about him as I do - they have only praise and admiration for him and his work. It is obvious that Dr. Basile is thoroughly dedicated to his patients and his profession.  I highly recommend Dr. Basile, and would never consider going to any other podiatrist.
