2008 I went to Dr. Basile after I had-mistakenly-went to an orthopedic surgeon to fix my bunion. My original 'repair' with the orthopod was a joke! My bunion looked 10 times worse than it had prior to surgery. I was out of work for 6 weeks, non weight-bearing and an additional 4 weeks of light duty! Not only was I not happy with the cosmetics post-op, but the pain never went away. I, myself, am in the medical field and am on my feet all day. You can imagine how frustrated and disappointed I was with these results. To add fuel to the fire, the orthopod said I was, 'being too picky and that I just wanted pretty feet.' Well, after ten weeks away from my job, I would hope it would at least look presentable. I was even embarrassed to say I had surgery! Fortunately, I had an encounter with one of Dr. Basile's patients four years later. She had  a bunionectomy by him and her foot was beautiful and pain-free! She suggested I go and just see what he had to say. While being professional, you could tell he was shocked by the results of my bunionectomy. He promised he could fix me. Although skeptical because of my previous outcome, he made me feel comfortable and hopeful. He was right...he fixed me. My foot looks and feels amazing! In fact, he did the re-do in Feb, it is now Oct and I am one week p-op from my bunionectomy on my other foot. Again, another terrific job by Dr. Basile. Moral of the story:don't order lasagna in a Chinese food restaurant. In other words, if you need foot surgery, go to a foot doctor-a good one. That's what they do. I learned my lesson!
