DO NOT GO THERE! My wife had an issue with her eye so she went in and saw the doctor. He prescribed medication and asked her to come back the next day.

So she went in the following day (as requested) and was seen by another doctor. He told her that he couldn't tell if it was better because he didn't originally see her. So he told her to come back the next day. If they knew the original doctor wasn't going to be there the next day, then they shouldn't have scheduled her then. We paid two co-pays and they wanted us to come back and pay a third co-pay.

This is unsatisfactory because if they knew the doctor wasnt going to be there, then they should have rescheduled the appointment when he was going to be there. My wife spoke with the manager and he said there was nothing he could do. So we paid for services not rendered. PATIENT BEWARE!

Hi, nolesnite....hope the preceding information is helpful to you.  If you are upset about the second doctor's being honest, then perhaps you should contact the doctor who originally saw your wife and see what he has to say.  I provided a link which lists all of the Centra Care doctors.  I also provided some contact information so perhaps you could speak  to to someone in a higher position than the office manager to whom you complained originally.

In all fairness to the second physician, how could he possibly make a valid estimation of whether or not your wife's eye had improved (clinically)  if he hadn't  actually seen her before?

I can't imagine a doctor seeing any improvement in an 'eye issue' with only one day of medication.  Did your wife have an infection?  Was she given a combination of steroid/antibiotic drops?   Was her eye  red or swollen when she first presented on the first appointment?  Was her vision compromised? .

Doctors at these facilities rotate, and I have been very fortunate the two times that my husband and I have been there, as the two doctors we saw were excellent.

Hope you'll take it upon yourself to contact either the original doctor or the main office to see if they can explain things better and be of more help to you.  Hope your wife's eye is better by now.

FYI:  The literature says that a corneal abrasion should be reexamined daily until either it has COMPLETELY healed or if after 3 days it has not.  If it has not, then you should be referred to an ophthomologist.  Also, the treatment for a corneal abrasion is antibiotic drops or ointment and pain medication.  Steroid drops should be reserved for the ophthomologist to prescribe since an intra ocular pressure should be obtained prior to starting the medicine as not to precipitate a case of sight threatening angle closure glaucoma.  Also, if these drops are used in the wrong situation there can be corneal scarring and permanent vision loss.  The physician did exactly what the guidelines recommend.  It doesn't matter if the 2nd Dd never saw the initial injury.  At least he could be sure you had no vision loss or ulceration.  Let's face it.....If the doc did not recommend a 24 hr follow up and there was an adverse outcome you would have been the 1st to call a lawyer and say well the guidelines say I should've been seen in 24 hrs and I was not, so pay up....malpractice suit.
