After years of dental treatment that was impersonal, often unprofessional, and nearly always painful, I saw Dr. Mary's ad in the newspaper. I was cautious at best, but Mary's warmth and Buddy's comfort soon made me feel that I was in the hands of a caring, competent professional. When my anxiety rose, I had Buddy to pet and Julie, the dental assistant, to hold my hand. I had extensive, expensive work done...it was not unusual for me to have appointments several times a week. My most memorable, however, was last Christmas Eve. Dr. Mary postponed her own dinner at her own home to work with me in creating a temporary denture that would get me through the holiday. I don't think that kind of compassion and selflessness is seen very often! I think Dr. Mary is the best! My only complaint is that I miss the optional comfort that Buddy afforded. As research confirms, he was able to lower my blood pressure and soothe my nerves. |
