2009 I came to Dr. McCoy after having 2 prior losses, so I was very nervous about this pregnancy.  She is very knowledgable, but has no bedside manner skills at all--she doesn't understand emotional women or how to relate to them.  To her a pregnancy is not a baby, it's merely a fetus and if something goes wrong she immediately suggests termination.
This office is a doctor factory.  This is a HUGE practice, with about 10 doctors, and I didn't like most of them--they all have the same mentality.  You rarely get to see Dr. McCoy, and when you do, it's rarely for more than 2 minutes.  Getting an appointment is near impossible, and going to the appointment is an all day affair.  The shortest wait time I ever had was 45 minutes; the longest was 2 hours.  Once you get back in the room, the doctors rush in and out, most appointments last 5 minutes.  I always wrote down a few questions I wanted to ask, but I never was allowed to ask all of them.  I was actually told I would need to book another appointment time in order to be allowed to ask questions!
I wanted a birth with minimal interventions, and was worried by how high their c-section stats were.  When I asked for a birth without pitocin, I was told that you MUST have pitocin in order to have a baby!  When I told them I didn't want an episiotomy, I was told that you MUST have one in order for the baby to fit out.  This is just NOT true!!!
At one point in the pregnancy I had a bladder infection, and the nurse practitioner told me that because my husband was out of town at the same time I got the bladder infection, he may be cheating on me, so it would be safer to also treat for STD's!  She then prescribed Valtrex 'just to be safe'...only later did they tell me to stop taking the Valtrex because it can be risky to the baby, and it wasn't need afterall because I tested negative for all STD's.  I was OUTRAGED by this entire experience!!!!!!
The final straw was when at 32 weeks pregnant I was told my belly was measuring at only 26 weeks.  They wanted to schedule an ultrasound because they said this usually means there is a problem with the placenta--meaning the baby is slowly starving to death.  They said it would be 10 days before they could 'fit me in'.  I said I wanted one IMMEDIATELY or wanted a referral to go to the hospital to have one.  They refused to do either.  I was hysterical and my husband had to call from work and threaten to call our lawyer in order to get them to see me that day.  It is absolutely unacceptable to tell a woman that her baby may be DYING, but then refuse to do anything about it for 10 days!!!!
After leaving their practice, they refused to repay me the money I was owed.  I had prepaid the $700 co-pay for the birth of the baby, and since I was delivering with another practice, I had to pay the $700 to the new practice, and should have been reimbursed by Dr. McCoy's offfice.  When I started asking for the money, they refused, and then stopped taking my calls.  My insurance company even sent them letters demanding the money be refunded.  I finally had to get my husband's corporation (who the insurance is thru) to contact their lawyer, after the lawyer contacted Dr. McCoy's office, I got a check within 10 days.  But it is ridiculous that it had to get to that point!!!
I would highly suggest you NOT go to this office!!!  Being that Dr. McCoy is the ONLY high risk doctor in the area, some people may be stuck going there--but in those cases I suggest you find another OBGYN to see as well, so you have minimal contact with Dr. McCoy, and if all goes well you can have the other doctor deliver you.
