I had 3 Prostate Operations by this Urologist, & it's MY OPINION that they  caused problems far WORSE than I had to begin wtih. (I recently had to have a BLADDER NECK operation elsewhere because of a complication the 3rd  Prostate operation caused) He NEVER mentioned to me the possibility of Anorgasmia (sensation loss) or Peyronie's Disease prior to the TURPS. I later read that both could result from transurethral surgery. After my problems developed, I asked about them at EVERY other office visit (13 times) and he never offered any help in regard to looking for information or other specialists who might know more about my situation than he did. After my 3rd operation I complained many times of testicular pain that he always explained away as 'infection'...After weeks of pain, he finally checked for a HERNIA confirmed by another surgeon who reccomended immediate surgery to fix that. I will always think it and the Peyronies (that fully  developed only 2 months after TURP 3 but started one week after) were caused by this urologist's work. If a Transurethral Resection (TURP) is ever proposed for you, be sure to get a second opinion FIRST! Know that 'Retrograde Ejaculation' can cause a MAJOR loss of orgasmic sensation, even when erectile function has not been affected. When I asked about that several times in advance of the first surgery, his comment was 'It will feel the same'--Nothing could be further from the truth in my case. If what I had sexually was a '10' before surgery, then at best it is now only about a '2' or a '3' if that. This was NOT what I expected (at only age 56 at the time of the surgery) for the rest of my life...He never bothered to wear a surgical mask on any of his 3 operations on me. (see photo) When I had a transurethral operation at a major university  teaching hospital after DR. Shah's failed TURPS, EVERYONE near me wore a mask including both physicians.....

Because he did not verify that I was properly NUMB before TURP 1, I actually felt the instruments enter my body and the cutting of my prostate begin. When I had a second failed spinal 3 weeks later, I was given a general anasthesia against my will. I developed Gynocomastia, or breast enlargement after taking the drug AVODART that he prescribed. How carring or compassionate was he? He joked about my 'man boobs' in the presence of his female nurse, who was later my student.

He demeaned two physicans to me-- something I have never heard another medical doctor do. One, a urologist in another town and the other, a local cosmetic surgeon. How is that for professionalism?

Before the 3 TURPS, I had a THERMATRX Microwaving of the Prostate by this Urologist and that did NOTHING to improve my BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia-- or Prostate Enlargement) It was then he told me what I REALLY needed was a TURP.....

I could never have imagined what I was getting into!

PS-

All the physicians at CLINICAL UROLOGY ASSOCIATES except Dr. Shah are listed as graduating with HONOR or HIGHEST HONOR.....Where did he rank in his class? I have no clue but it reminds me of an old joke.....'What do you call the person who finished LAST in their medical school class?.........D O C T O R !!

ALSO INTERESTING.....guess what the undergraduate degree it took him FIVE years to get was in?  FINANCE!!! Does that indicate what might be most important at his practice--CLINICAL UROLOGY ASSOCIATES?

PPS-- I was threatened  to be sued by an attorney his Practice retained  unless I removed ALL my negative comments about him/them---I did not back down.......(I'd  also earlier taken him to court)

Since my last revision of my posting on  Urologist MANISH  SHAH I had yet another bladder neck operation in March of 2011 to fix ongoing damage caused by Dr. Shah's 3 failed TURP prostate operations in 2006--This month marks five years since my first life long damage was caused by his work.

Last week Dr. Shah removed a kidney and connected mass from a friend of mine. I was at the hospital when he informed the family of my friend that he had punctured her diaphram during the process......Another (excellent) surgeon had to be called in to repair the damage Dr. Shah's work caused and my friend ended up in ICU instead of a regular room. I believe the repair operation took about an hour and a half--- about as long as he 'worked' on her initally to revove the Kidney......

When I found out he was scheduled to do her operation it was too late for me to get she and her family to REFUSE his services......

NEWS FLASH-- Recently a patient went in for what he thought was  to be a routine procedure at the Urology office. He DIED from a reaction of what was injected into him-- he was only 28 years old.....This was August 10th--the office? CLINICAL UROLOGY ASSOCIATES IN GADSDEN is the word all over town.
