2010 Dr. K is wonderful, sweet, knowledgeable  and extremely caring. I see Dr. K for back pain injections.

The nursing staff is very sweet and compassionate. They hold my hand while I get my injections, as well as pat my back which makes the injection much more bearable.  The nursing staff don't make me feel bad for being in pain and  understand the discomfort I am going through.

The doctor is knowledgeable and is very understanding of patients in pain. He also has a great sense of humor to make everyone feel comfortable and uplift their spirits.

Dr. K returns phone calls promptly on his days off and does everything he can to help the patient.
The wait time in the waiting room varies - one day I had to wait about 30 minutes, while other times I didn't sit for more than 5 minutes. Whatever the wait may be, it is worth it.

Dr. Kabakibou is a wonderful doctor with highly skilled staff and I would highly recommend this pain management clinic to everyone!

we have been with dr. KK for many years. we have seen him in Ellijay an Atlanta,
no offence to Ellijay but we prefere Atlanta. all the staff from the front desk to Medical Records are awesome. as for dr. kk himself. he is a very nice doctor who has much compassion. he is like any other man,(no offence to men), can have a bad day just like any one else. as for the Physican Assistants, for the most of them they are very kind. their are rare times when one may get a bit crabby britches really really bad but all you can do is pray for people. their are many other pain management doctors one can choose from. all you half to do is get a copy of your perscriptions from your local pharmacy or where ever you fill your pain medicines at. PainPuppy is very sorry for LadyG an all you went thru. if you live up in the north Georgia area look near woodstock an canton area. their are quite a few excellent pain doctors that truly do understand what it is like to constantly hurt. we most certainally understand what pain is like an their is nothing any doctor can do to relieve your pain except for pain meds. as long as one actually takes their meds as prescribed. please for all those folks that abuse our good doctors an their meds please stop so it is not so hard for all the good folks that really need help please. remember to pray in all things an read GODS word for guidence as you will know how to live daily for JESUS. you will see your life can be a lot easier. it does not mean you will always have a road of roses but it certainally helps when the thorns stick out they dont sting as bad in the end only due to our Almighty LORD an him only. PainPuppy is barking happy with a wagging tail for the help we receive

2007 thru current

I come to check in from time to time to see if there are any new posts.  I've been seeing Dr. K for about 2 and a half years.  Without getting caught up in drama, I'd like to make a post that describes him and the quality of care he gives.

I have several health issues and all but one of them contribute to my pain.  Dr K has looked at that and not been afraid to treat me.  He has always treated me as a person, not a number.  The statements in other posts about him recalling your family members are true and he always asks how things are with them.

He has done epidural lumbar injections for me three times and each time has helped. He sent me home with a tens unit that I use often.  He has adjusted my medications when needed. 95% of the time, he is singing and joking with his patients making the day better for people that have a lot of pain.

I am generally kind of cranky and not easily pleased nor do I like people easily... but I genuinely like Dr K. I also like his PA's.  I have seen two of them and I'm not sure but I think there are others.  The two I have seen have been just incredible. I'm not sure of ones name but I do know Elizabeth and she is one of the most professional and kindest people I've met.

You will get professional treatment from a team that does care about you. Even the person that takes payment is very kind. I've never had a problem with anyone in his office nor have I had issue with making appointments.

There can be a wait sometimes... not all of the time... but sometimes there really is but that is because he travels to a small town each week which is where I have mostly seen him and the need is so great here that he has a lot of people to see that one day.  In the few times that I have been to his Atlanta office, I have not experienced a wait so I can't say what happens there.

Dr K walks into the room smiling and making you smile... then settles down to your treatment.

He is accountable to the DEA, so you can expect random urine tests if you are prescribed strong medicines. But for those of us that live with pain daily, handing over a cup of urine just isn't a problem.  I have seen it be a problem for some people and they do get dropped.  Why would anyone have a problem with that unless there was something ugly going on?

I think he is an excellent doctor and that his PA's are incredible. There is a continuity that I haven't seen in a lot of other practices.  That alone speaks volumes of their respect for him.

I hope this helped...

Ok Gracie - I appreciate your opinion 'I'd like to make a post that describes him and the quality of care he gives'  but your statement is just that - your OPINION - not anyone else's.  There will be drama on nearly all 'opinion' content driven websites.  It just comes with the territory.  While I'm happy you rate your experience as a 10 please know that there are many others on this and other sites that have not enjoyed the same level of care you describe in your post.  I have been in pain management for over 12 years and have been cared for by three doc's during this time.  In comparison with Kamal, my other two doc's provided far superior care - hands down.

I find it amazing that you continue to remark on every good post that is made about this physician.

I don't know what exactly happened to you... but it's been a very long time.  Part of a sign of good mental health is the ability to let things go.

During all these past years, I have received nothing but quality care.

I wish you good luck... and good health.

Urine testing is fine, but to charge athousand  bucks when these tests cost under three hundred bucks is robbery and to do it every month even when a patient has never failed a single one and has been seeing him for over 5 years, its about money with KK now. DEA does not require testing like that. Check it out for yourself. Ask your insurance for a detailed copy of his bill.......you may be surprised.

I dont think it is possible for a doctor to recall everything about every patient... but somehow Dr.K recalls my family when I see him and I watch him as he softens when he reviews my chart and see's all that is wrong with me.  You can see the caring in his eyes and face.  No one will ever be hearing me say anything bad about this man... and he treats other family members as well as some friends I have sent to him.  All are happy.  I couldn't believe the hatred that some people here have shown.

You can't make everyone happy...

2006-2008 I'm sure any patient of any physician have had some bad experiences. I have. But I vehemently disagree with the negative comments here regarding Dr. Kabakibou. I am a patient of 2 years, not a friend. I have serious pain management issues due to a chronic illness I wish I didn't have.

I have had appointments with Dr. K and his physician's assistants quite a few times, many times accompanied by my husband. Dr. K's previous suite of offices were too small for him and his staff. There were formerly issues regarding long waits. Dr. Kabakibou moved to a very nice new suite in the same building late in 2007. Dr. Kabakibou and his physician's assistants have been caring, sensitive and always took the time to listen to my experiences and respond to any questions or needs. Dr. K is highly observant, a sensitive human being and a good listener. If his patients weren't treated as though we were important to him, Dr K would not have become the successful specialist he is, at the top of his profession.

I wish other MDs I've known were as compassionate and skilled at caring for their patients as Dr. K. I've known a couple who sound like the descriptions (supposedly of Dr. K) given by SugarMagnolia and Glindawitch on this site. If they had any serious issues with Dr. Kabakibou I'm sure they could have requested an appointment to talk about their concerns and he would have helped. That's the kind of person my husband and myself have seen in action. He's busy but he does care and pays attention to patients.

Be fair to your doctors. Discuss issues with them when you are unhappy with your care. They can't help you if you don't. Even the smartest MD is not a mindreader.

Mindreading isn't the issue here.  This man was not interested in anything I had to say and was offended that I even wanted to ask questions about MY care.  His priority was getting to the next patient so he could collect that next payment.  I flatly told him that his 60 second evaluation of my predicament was unsatisfactory, but he didn't want to hear it.  When a patient expresses concern or has questions, the least a 'physician' could do would be to listen.  It was not in his interest to listen to me and my concerns and it was blatantly obvious to me and my husband.  He should open up a 'drive-by pain clinic.'  It would probably suit his agenda more.

Comments by GlindaWitch on 02/26/08, 8:08 pm

I 'vehemently' disagree with your assessment of my posts...'(supposedly of Dr. K) given by SugarMagnolia and Glindawitch on this site. If they had any serious issues with Dr. Kabakibou I'm sure they could have requested an appointment to talk about their concerns and he would have helped.' and
I DID voice my concerns and got nowhere.  At each and every appointment I filled out the 'pain chart' and checked the 'No' box under the 'Are you happy with your treatment.....' but not ONCE did Mr. Kabakibou ask me why I was unhappy with my treatment - A couple of times I indicated that I HAD sought treatment from another doctor for my condition, and on other occasions I would mark completely different body parts as the source of my pain on the 'body' pic on that form - to be clear: at NO time did I EVER seek additional treatment or medications - I was merely interested to determine whether or not these pre-appointment forms were EVER EVEN GLANCED AT by Mr. Kabakibou.   NOT ONCE was Mr. Kabakibou alarmed that I had disclosed seeking additional treatment and/or medications elsewhere (a HUGE no-no as stipulated in the 'pain contract' we all signed), and never did he ask why the source of my pain traveled from the lower half of my body to my head, elbows and ears!!

Let's acknowledge this comment of yours:  'Be fair to your doctors. Discuss issues with them when you are unhappy with your care. They can't help you if you don't. Even the smartest MD is not a mindreader. '  Do you honestly believe he even took a glance at one of my several erroneous 'pain charts'? They should have brought out Big RED warning flags from at least SOMEONE in that office.  If I was procuring duplicate medication I should have been denied further 'treatment' aka 'monthly pill mill script writing'.  When I voiced my concerns about his derogatory demeanor toward me and my concerns about my health and my his assistant PA AND to his WIFE Dr. Massoud, don't you think THAT deserved acknowledgment from Mr. Kabakibou???

Come ON Paula, you clearly have blinders on...How can you dismiss ALL of the poor ratings for this 'Dr.'?  It's not just SugarMagnolia and me - there are way more negative reviews on this website and many others about Mr. Kabakibou then there are positive.

I do take offense to your comment about my reviews indicating I may NOT be reviewing Mr. Kabakibou... quote from your post  '(supposedly of Dr. K)'.  Do you really think I'm making all of this up?  He must have you on some really wonderful meds if you really believe I'm reviewing a different Dr.!!

And, I will review a different Doctor now that I am no longer participating in the narcotic script mill that is Mr. Kabakibou's practice.

Oh...one more comment...you mention that his move to a bigger suite was to accommodate his current patient load and to aleviate the long wait times.  Let me tell you this, which was told to me by 2 different staff members...He TRIPLE BOOKS appointments EVERY SINGLE DAY !!  That means if you have an appt. time of 10:00am...so do two other patients!  The key is to arrive at least 20 min prior to your appt. time so you get to sign in first, which means you will make your co-pay first, be seen first, and hopefully cut down on the parking fees!  Just a suggestion :-)

My new Doctor is a true professional! He is on time and instead of the cold setting of that icky office of Mr. K's, when the nurse calls you back you are led to a room with comfy, warm and inviting chairs, ambient lighting, and get this - they actually take your vitals at each and every appt!  I guess they like to know if your pain meds have spiked your BP into the stratosphere!  After that, the nurse sits in the room with you at the computer...each room has a computer....as everything is automated...no 'hand-written' scripts (I just had a horrible experience with my mail order pharmacy because Mr. K did not 'write' the script correctly so they had to contact his office for clarification....I won't go into detail, but suffice to say that getting the necessary information from Mr. K's office took TWO WEEKS!!  Unacceptable!!  The mail order pharmacy kept calling ME to find out what the problem was as most RFI's were resolved within 48 HOURS TOPS!

My new doc comes in nearly immediately after the nurse leaves and we chat for a few minutes about how I'm doing.  He has even offered alternative therapies for us to explore!!  He really listens to me and really 'hears' my issues/questions/pain.  I am so grateful to Mr. K for mucking up my last monthly appt, leaving me hanging in the wind in regard to WHEN I could get another appt - I was offered the 'next available' which was THREE WEEKS AWAY and I was due for meds at the time of the botched appt 3 days ago!

So Darlin, you just keep on looking thru your rose colored glasses....I'm certain you will encounter the same mal-treatment I and many others have endured...unless by chance you are very very good looking with a great body...only THEN will Mr. K 'treat' your illness and treat you with respect and dignity that should be afforded to ALL patients!!

Comments by ginagreene on 03/04/08, 1:29 am

In short, if he feels that you have something to offer or someone of importance you will get much better treatment. At the time of my divorce I joined the ranks of ordinary people and got 3 minute office visits like everyone else which was just fine with me, what is not OK with me is that I truly was not receiving care for my condition and I felt that my well being was not his priority. I agree he priority was seeing as many patients on any given day as he could (some visits he would have my scripts already written out and he would just hand them to me and I was done). I guess the convenience was the thing that kept me going back to him but I am truly glad that these incidents forced me to seek another doctor. (no matter how bad the new doctor could be, I know it would be an improvement over Dr. K) No matter what your health issues are you deserve under the care of a doctor who truly cares. And so like Glindawitch said get out why you can and give Dr. K the boot.

2007 my husband has seen Dr. K many times , I have gone with him all but once( the Atlanta location ) . Our experience with Dr. Kabakibou has been very different from the previous poster...We really like him. He has shown himself to be a good listener , he takes his time with any questions or concerns we might have , and he has great sense of humor. I have found him to be knowledgeable and unlike many other Dr.'s  , he  seems compassionate. Personally , I am pretty picky with medical people and he is easy to like. If any one has trouble getting along with him , I would venture to say that person is probably ill tempered anyhow or maybe just not a nice person to begin with. Some people can be very unpleasant especially if they are in chronic pain .. I say if you can get past the long wait..he is worth seeing.
