2001 - present
As a longtime, formerly happy patient of Dr Kabakibou’s, I hesitated for months before posting this review. I have a variety of painful conditions, none of which has responded well to surgery, epidurals, injections, or much of anything else besides opiates. Dr K was compassionate and understanding where other doctors were suspect and cruel. He helped me greatly in the past and, save one episode many years ago in which I found him to be high strung and upsetting, any problems I had with him were greatly outweighed by the benefits of continuing to see him. No, he hasn’t been perfect. I have had problems with his staff and he failed to return phone calls, not only to me but to my insurance company, dentist, oral surgeon and other doctors. He routinely takes phone calls while in appointments with me. Twice, he has made mistakes on my prescriptions that were caught by the pharmacist so that I had to drive back to his office the next day for a rewrite, then again to my pharmacist - a 4 hour drive round-trip. (Now I just make sure I check my prescriptions before I leave his office.) Given the hell that I went through trying to get relief before I found Dr K, I guess I have been very protective and defensive of his actions. Despite the craziness, he was the one doctor who actually helped me. His P.A.’s were all great too! The choice was always mine as to whether I saw a P.A. instead of the doctor. I was always asked if I minded seeing a P.A. instead of Dr K and usually I did not mind as I got along with them just as well as I did with Dr K.

How things can change! Six months ago Dr K stopped seeing me altogether and abandoned me to his current P.A. She is nothing like the others, who all seemed to disappear. Bit by bit this woman began lowering my dosages and switching me to medications that did not help me, seemingly in the interest of lowering my level of narcotics. When I told her these meds did not work she refused to switch me back to what did work even though Dr K had given those meds to me for years! She refused to listen to anything I had to say regarding my own care and it seemed almost enjoyable to her to deny me the relief Dr K and his other P.A.s had once provided me. I honestly thought she had a personal grudge against me until I read all the other reviews here! I have been very ill the past few months due to the cuts in medications and cannot function most days. I have tried calling Dr K several times but he won’t return my phone calls. I have requested appointments with him instead of his P.A. and his staff agrees to schedule me with him, but the P.A. ultimately walks into the room to see me. When I demand to see Dr K instead she refuses to get him. Apparently, she goes everywhere with him. I am wondering if Dr Kabakibou is in some kind of trouble, or perhaps there is more to their doctor-P.A. relationship than meets the eye… He was in a deposition during my last appointment...

I would like to try to find another doctor but a huge part of me is afraid that no other doctor will be understanding in treating me with the narcotic medications that help me. For many years I did not have health insurance and my income was too high to qualify me for government health insurance. At that time I was trying to obtain individual coverage and asked providers not to put damning information (pre-existing conditions) on my chart, so I have very little documentation on my record to justify the amount of narcotics I take. I am also concerned that perhaps the P.A. wrote some slanderous things in my records, things that might blacklist me with another doctor.  Or maybe, like one patient who reviewed Dr K here, my records will never arrive at the new doctor's office.

Dr Kabakibou used to care deeply about his patients and it is very sad to witness what is happening to him now. I would have strongly recommended Dr K and praised him to the skies only a couple of years ago but now I feel I must warn potential patients about him. I will be looking elsewhere and hope I am not doomed. If anyone has a good recommendation or knows of a trustworthy doctor with whom I can be honest, who might understand my circumstances and take any added notes in my medical records with a grain of salt, please message me here.

To all of you who claim to have wonderful experiences with Dr Kabakibou these days… No offense intended but I'm not sure I believe you. I wonder if most of you are simply like me, fearful that another doctor won’t give you the pain relief you need so you excuse Dr K (and his P.A.’s) actions. Do you actually think it's fair to pay to see a real doctor only to be shuffled off to his P.A. every visit? I don't know about you but I pay good money up front to see Dr Kabakibou, not some assistant! Other doctors charge a reduced fee for visits with a P.A. or Nurse Practitioner, but not Dr K. Would you put up with that kind of behavior from your General Practitioner or another doctor who did not give you pain meds? Why accept it from this doctor?

8/16/14; An update... I am still seeing the same doctor I found after firing Dr Kabakibou, except now am seeing him in his office instead of the pain clinic. There have been no problems, so I am now seeing him only once every two months. He has no P.A.'s and I see the doctor every visit! He is a wonderful doctor and I am blessed to have found him. Had I not made the decision to leave Dr K, I would still be stuck at the mercy of his various sadist P.A.'s! To all of you who are still seeing Dr Kabakibou and are unsatisfied with your treatment, just take that first step and find another doctor! There are many out there who are kind, patient, efficient and understanding. Do a simple search of this site to come up with alternatives, and don't forget to post your experiences, good or bad. Thank you!

dr.k is a very good doctor.he is a caring person.his PA'S are the worst assistants i have ever seen in my 10yrs of going to doctors.they go in there like there investigators instead of his helpers.he is losing patiences because of his staff. i just quit going to him because im in a doctors office not a interagation room.

run like the wind if you are going to see Dr. KK. he has changed an no time for you any more. his pa Elizabeth is an evil person. her attitude is like a dead rat. her compassion is none. how in GODS name she is even a pa , I will never know. now Kathern the other pa is a beautiful sweet lady with compassion. she dont work but on wednesdays. I dont understand what happen to Dr. kk . he was more then a doctor to us but something happened to him. he became wordly. money, money money, that is all he thinks about. the hell with his patience. to let the bad things that happened to myself an my husband. sitting here an seeing my husband try to kill himself going thru with draws due to a doctor not listening an letting Elizabeth ruin his business an telling my husband she did not know how to treat the patients. what in GODS name has happenwed to him. well I can tell you when you turn to the worlds ways an forget where you came from an forget about your patients care. GOD will have vengence. to allow your patients to suffer at the hands of the pa Elisabeth you cares for only her self an to laugh at you is just plain evil. we were not the only patients to be more then mistreated is just wrong. all I can honestly tell any one who goes to see dr.kk :RUN, REALLY RUN LIKE THE WIND' an dont look back, you will only cause your self more harm then ever.

I appreciate the comments - thank you! :) However, I wish you would also create a scorecard of your own for Dr Kabakibou so that you can rate him and and so other prospective patients can read your experiences. You can make your own scorecard for him under 'create scorecard' at this link: http://www.doctorscorecard.com/rate?last_name=kabakibou&state=GA&state_dd=ga&srctype=usa

Does anyone know what happened to Dr K's PA of a few years back? I think her name was Leese although I am not spelling it correctly. I really miss her and wish there were some way to get in touch with her just to say hello.

I have been going to another clinic for about 6 months now. I have to go every two weeks, but that doesn't bother me much since I live half an hour away. I've not had a problem getting my meds from the new place. However, I do miss the camraderie I had a few years ago with Dr Kabakibou, Catherine and the rest of his staff. I DO NOT miss the fear of having my meds cut in half every month though, or being abused by Elizabeth!

I keep reading about all these patients Elizabeth has fired; do they have any patients left? Doesn't Dr K suspect anything? Wow...

To any patient who may read this: I hope you are not going back to Dr Kabakibou to take even more abuse! There are plenty of clinics out there who will give you the medication you need without the mistreatment. First, get a copy of your records from Dr Kabakibou's office. Tell the front desk you need them for insurance purposes or were in a minor car accident and are thinking of suing and your attorney needs them. Honestly, when I got a copy of mine they did not ask why I needed them at all, and they probably won't ask you either. Just bypass everyone else and go directly to the Records department. I just asked for a copy, they charged me the money and then sent them to me. Make a few copies of these records they send to you, one should remain yours. Be sure to get records a year back from your pharmacy and make copies of those also. Next, use google and websites like this one... Search for a few good pain clinics and doctors in your area. Get three good ones, make appointments and bring along your medical and pharmacy records. Just tell the new doctor that Dr KK has a PA you do not get along with. Try all three clincs if you need to before you pick one. If none of the three work out, try three more! But don't put up with Elizabeth's abuse any longer! Remember - you are paying them, not the other way around! Good luck!
