I went to Dr Gaitan to perform surgery on an infection left in an older root canal.  I agree with the previous comments about the cleanliness of the office which is a good thing.  I did think it was a little unusual that I appeared to be the only patient there and there were no cars in the parking lot. 

While preparing for the surgery I had numerous X-ray images taken.  Unfortunately, I am a patient that has quick gag reflexes so it was obvious to Dr. Gaitan's team that they would need to deal with this.  While starting the procedure I had some difficulty not reacting to some gauze that was being placed deep into my mouth.  Dr. Gaitan abruptly stopped the procedure and scolded me for not letting him know about my gag reflexes earlier.  He further went on to admonish me for closing my eyes as I attempted to sooth the gag reflex as I couldn't see his instruments.

Immediately afterwards, Dr. Gaitan indicated that he could not perform the surgery and I would have to reschedule for later and prescribed an anti-nausea pill.  What is amazing is that he came back into the office and scolded me again for my supposed admission of the gag reflex.  I ensued to tell him that his staff took numerous x-rays in which I exhibited this reflex and that they should have known that I had this difficulty.  He reacted arrogantly and just left the room leaving me reclined back with no response. 

I will not ever return to Dr. Gaitan's office for any procedure and would strongly advise anybody considering hi services to look elsewhere or to investigate in full.  While I am sure working on a patient with active gag reflexes is more of a challenge, I have had numerous procedures performed without problems at other offices.  I would expect that this not be a huge issue as it appeared to be and at the minimum I would expect to be treated better.  Patient beware.
