I was refered by my doctor to Dr. Mesko. I was bone one bone with both knees. The meniscus was pretty well gone. The x-ray showed my left femer actually had little broken chips. I was not in chronic pain, but could not mow my whole lawn at one time and had to do it in segments. When I spoke with Dr. Mesko, I asked him what would I not be permitted to do with my new knees. He told me what ever I was doing now I would be able to do after. He said with the proper exercise I should be back in shape in nine months to a year. 'If you like to garden, you might like to get some of those gel knee pads for kneeling on the ground.' It was a year ago last December I had my knees replaced. Feburary I knelt on the floor and replaced the faucets to my bathroom sink. I used a pillow and it felt strange, but there was not any pain (I weigh 340 lbs. and I am 68 years old.). I found Dr. Mesko to be very friendly and easy to talk to and ask questions. He has a first rate staff. He has hundreds of patients each year, so half a dozen responses can hardly be a fair representation of the man's ture skill. I do not buy the arrogant and belligerent attitude painted by some others. I think they must have been looking in a mirror.

1995 |
Having just read Randi's review I feel compelled to LEAP to Dr. Mesko's defense. I had total hip replacement in 1995 with a then experimental hip prosthesis made of ceramic. Dr. Mesko was participating in a study of these new hips, and I eagerly signed up. I could not be more pleased with Dr. Mesko both personally and professionally. Even though I weigh well over 300 I have not had a problem with the new hip, and I say this 12 years after the surgery. He has been very caring and personable with me at all times. My recovery was quick and relatively pain free. I highly recommend him to anyone.
