Since her practice opened

Dr. Baksh has been my physician since she opened her practice several years ago.  I have seen her grow as a physician and her practice grow.  I am a health care professional and have very high standards for the physicians who treat me; these standrards do not include just medical expertise.  I must say that this practice is the best one I have ever used.  I have recommended it to 4 friends; they all go there and express similar views.

Dr. Baksh is, of course, absolutely competent and caring.  If she doesn't know an answer, she finds out and lets you know.  I cannot speak too highly of her.

But...a physician is not the only person who makes a practice successful.  Dr. Baksh hires only fellow clinicians who share her caring, attention to detail, exertise, and philosophy that treatment is a partnership between the health care provider and the patient.  It only takes one bad experience for some people to decide they want nothing more to do with a particular physician or staff and I doubt this has happened very often at Healthy Steps.

If we are honest, we know that the support staff are what keep a practice running smoothly.  Physicians are rarely an organized bunch when it comes to more than their medical skills.  The women who work in this practice are absolutely, unbelievably competent, caring, and efficient.  Without them, I am sure chaos would reign!  I have grown to depend on these women, who never fail to call in a prescription, deliver a message, respond to an e-mail, help with insurance problems-whatever is necessary.

The following examples are from all the different staff-each and every one who reflects the idea that they are there to help.  So, I appreciate the calls letting me know that my prescription has, indeed, been called in.  I appreciate the calls letting me know about my lab work.  I appreciate the follow-up calls to see if the new medication is working or if I am having any problems with it.  I appreciate the inquiries about my family and how they are.  I appreciate that they remember events in my family, such as the recent death of a parent.  I appreciate the concern about my emotional AND my physical health.  I appreciate the electronic medical record that makes things so easy to find during a visit.  I appreciate that I am never made to feel rushed. I appreciate the e-mail system and the prompt responses I receive when I use it.  I appreciate that Dr. Baksh and the other clinicians talk to consulting physicians rather than merely wait for test results that might never arrive.  I appreciate that the staff treats me respectfully and always tries to do whatever they can to honor my request...as if I am the only person standing at the front desk, or on the phone, or with something needing attention.  I really appreciate that everyone in this office has a sense of humor!

All of this is not to say that this practice is perfect; it isn't.  I don't expect it to be.  There are times when things get a bit backed up...I figure someone is, perhaps, getting the emergency help they need and that I will receive the same treatment if I need it.  Everyone isn't always in a wonderfully 'up' mood every time I visit; but if they aren't, they are still pleasant, kind, and don't complain.  Sometimes it gets a bit crowded and I have to wait longer than usual...flu season is a time whjen this can happen.  I figure it's a trade-off for the times I have no significant waiting time.
