They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

I echo ViennaCoach's thoughtful comments. I believe Dr. Shmorhum is very competent professionally, but his personal manner is often abrupt and condescending. The nurses are excellent and take time to listen and answer questions but the front office staffers are consistently unhelpful in the extreme - minor example: I asked for a referral to any nearby medical lab - front office said they 'didn't know any' (they begrudgingly handed me a phone directory but I had to ask to use it) and then said they were about to close for lunch. I would not recommend this practice if you seek anything other than technical competence in your primary care provider. Caring, compassion, helpfulness reside elsewhere. This is a practice that seems to be set up for the convenience of the doctor and not for the patients. Unfortunately, primary care/family practice, by its very nature, tends to be 'messy.' Kids get sick unexpectedly, Northern VA traffic may make you run 5 minutes late no matter how much time you allow, etc. Expect no sympathy and little flexibility. |
