Not given Like the previous reviewer, I was very baffled that I didn't meet the doctor til I had already developed a problem & 30 wks pregnant.  Which unless you have connections, or in my case, switched to military care, this can pose a problem, b/c I was not impressed upon 1st meeting w/her & thought it in my best interest to switch care.  Once I did finally meet her, I left the appt. feeling very uncomfortable.  She walked in the room & barely said hello, she eventually softened up & joked a bit, but her recommendations, which I did follow, were very rigid & a bit like 'you'd better follow this diet...or else!'  For example, with gaining weight like the last reviewer said,  I sorta got the impression that the doctor is so concerned about covering herself & her practice thats why she was giving me these overzealous guidelines to follow. Like watching my weight when I was barely 99lbs before getting pregnant & only got up to 117 while pregnant.  While she was correct about some things, I felt her approach lacked tact & I walked away feeling like if I didn't do what she said, I'd be in trouble with her.  Who wants to feel intimidated by the person you're choosing to deliver your baby?  That's when I started to realize that she made me uncomfortable & to question 'wait a second, this is the birth of my first child & your OB is rubbing you the wrong way...what's wrong with this picture?'   However, it wasn't this that finally drove me to switching doctors.  Prior to meeting the doctor, I had an unpleasant experience w/her on-call nurse, not NP's (they were the best thing about Dr. Coltrin's practice).  I had developed an issue that was going to require high-risk care, but they weren't going to be able to get me in to see the specialist for almost a month due to insurance issues.  I called & nicely explained that that was a problem b/c I could end up very ill (which a nurse friend told me was unacceptable for them to have handled my situation this way, & that if not managed immediately I could end up w/complications) & that I needed to see someone much sooner.  She began to to sigh as if I was hassling her.  She realized she was in the wrong & caught herself, but I couldn't believe the lack of customer service or concern.  Finally, I considered this coupled w/my 1st meeting w/the Dr., and them calling me & cancelling my 20 wk ultrasound three hours prior to the appt, that I looked into switching my care out at Portsmouth which I found to be an improvement for me.  There were just too many red flags w/this doctor & practice. Overall, I was pleased w/the majority of her staff,  NP staff, & Dr. Coltrin DOES seem knowledgable, she just wasn't warm or friendly.  It's suppose to be an exciting time & you want a provider that's going to give you the facts but not make you a nervous wreck. Based upon my experience, don't feel like you have to settle if something doesn't sit right.  Remember that while you're a patient, you're still a consumer & you don't have to feel undermined or scared into thinking per your healthcare provider that you can't seek other options even if you're 24+ weeks.
