After an initial good check up I was shocked to get a bill for $225 for an additional test that was added to my annual pap smear test. The dr added a sexually transmitted disease test, which I was NOT told about and which my insurance did not cover. The only way to communicate with this doctor was on her website by email, which I did and her response to my questioning this test and charge was 'It is not my fault you have inadequate health coverage'... I explained I was on a very limited budget having lost my job, and $225 was insane. I had no response or offer to share the cost of this error on their part. I left the practice immediately. Unneeded testing adds up to billions of dollars in the US every year, and the only people who profit are the dr. and the labs running the tests. Of course this test was negative. My previous gyno I loved, was with her for 9 years, and only left because she stopped taking my insurance. |
