I had horrible lower back pain. I had had several MRI and gone to see other doctors which shall remain nameless. I had one doctor tell me I needed surgery. Dr. Heilman came highly reccommended to me. I did have to wait to see him but had such a good reputation I was willing to wait. There is nothing worse than chronic back pain.
I was practically begging for surgery. Dr Heilman was kind, listened to me and my symptoms and spent a lot of time with me. I felt like I got the bums rush from one of the other doctor's I had gone to see. One doctor told me I should have surgery.
Dr. Heilman took time to explain what I could do as far as excercise and pain mangement. He also told me that only after I had tried the excercises and pain management would he consider operating. I really appreciated that because surgery is difficult to go through at my age. I feel much better that he convinced me to take a conservative route. I am very grateful that he and his staff didn't just choose to cut me open to make money. I went back for repeated visits to make sure I was progressing. I have to admit that I thought it would be easier just to have the operation. I feel great..and he didn't make a bunch of money from me..now that's what I call a doctor with ethics!!
