Doctor Demands to Know Who Wrote Comments about Him

Dr. William Boothe is at it again. Now the LASIK eye surgeon from Plano, TX is petitioning a judge in Collin County to force us to reveal personally identifiable information about people who have written comments about him online.

Dr. Boothe has never given us a reason to believe that the comments written about him are false, libel or defamation. If he could have shown that, we would have gladly removed the comments. We do not tolerate false comments written about doctors. If we are made aware of evidence showing comments written are most likely false, we delete those comments. We're here to let people speak up about their experiences and do not tolerate abuse of the site. But Dr. Boothe did not attempt to show the comments about him are false, so we are here to protect the public's right to speak freely about him.

He is now demanding that a judge side with him and order us to reveal who wrote what about the doctor. Wait, we have HIPAA to protect a patient's privacy, right? It will be interesting to see what Judge Ray Wheless decides.

It's funny that days before receiving the court papers, Dr. Boothe's director of public relations contacted me repeatedly telling me she hasn't worked for Dr. Boothe in three years. I told my wife that I bet some kind of lawsuit is headed our way and sure enough, just days later, here we go.

I notified Boothe a few years ago to have him or his attorney contact me (gave them my contact info), and nothing. Frankly, I wish he would! There's so much that can be learned from discovery (even what they're hiding) during a lawsuit that I'm amazed these doctors even try to come after you. I can't wait!

Earl, there's a whole list of production of documents I'd like to see that would post well on my website.
